Local Company Creates Helmet Sensor For Crashes

A local company is hoping to soon help keep bicycle riders safer.

ICEdot has created a helmet-mounted sensor that notifies your emergency contacts in the case of an crash.

As soon as the sensor feels an impact, it gives you a few seconds to cancel.

If not, it connects to an iPhone app and lets loved ones know what happened, along with your GPS location.

"It can contact them either by email notifications or by text messages," says Jonathan Gates. "So you can have an army of 20 people if you wanted them to know that you're in a crash."

The price will be about $200.

Their goal is to launch it by March 2013.
