Local and state leaders joined together Tuesday afternoon to announce the construction of a new Macy's distribution center.
Governor Mary Fallin, Mayor Dewey Bartlett and other Tulsa leaders when the news was announced at the Tulsa Regional Chamber. Macy's Inc will build the new center near the Cherokee Industrial Park.
"Tulsa County is a thriving metropolitan community and an excellent choice to locate or expand a business," Governor Fallin said. "This announcement is another sign that Oklahoma is a destination-state for those seeking a location with strong economic growth and a skilled, dedicated workforce."
Construction of the 1.3 million-square-foot building is scheduled to begin this spring and operations are expected to start in April 2015. When fully operational, the new center is expected to employ approximately 1,500 full- and part-time associates year-round.
