Updated: Man Found on Porch with Gunshot Wound Identified

A man died after being found shot and lying on a porch in North Tulsa, late Friday night.

According to a news release, Tulsa Police responded to a home near 5300 N. Frankfort Place in reference to a man lying on a porch with a gunshot wound.

A 34-year-old James Mario Parker was located by first responders and he was transported to St. John's Hospital where he later died in surgery.

Investigators learned that Parker and another man were involved in a confrontation at another home on Frankfort Place where Parker was shot. Parker then ran to the another home where he was found on the porch.

Homicide detectives learned that the shooter fled the scene and members of the Northern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Task Force were called to assist in locating the suspect.

The suspected shooter was located by task force members at a motel near 12500 E. Skelly Drive, early Saturday morning.

According to police, a witness and the suspect surrendered to officers at the motel.

TPD arrested 33-year-old Michael Lyke for possession of a firearm after a former conviction of a felony and possibly in relation to Friday's shooting. According to police, investigators are continuing to determine whether the shooter in this case is Lyke.

According to a recent news release, investigators found that Parker arrived at Lyke's residence and then a confrontation took place. Evidence gathered by detectives indicate that both Lyke and Parker were armed with handguns.

Shots were exchanged and Parker was hit, later dying at St. John's Hospital.

Detectives are still conducting interviews and continuing their investigation.
