Man Sentenced for Attempted Rape of Woman at Sand Springs Park
A Tulsa man was sentenced this week after an attempted rape at a Sand Springs jogging trail in 2013.
Both sides in Steven Ray Bowes case returned to court Monday for his sentencing. He pleaded guilty to kidnapping and attempted sodomy charges.
Court documents state that Bowes received a total of 48 years in prison for the incident that took place at the River City Park in Sand Springs.
Previous reports from KTUL state that Bowes was taken into custody after an unidentified woman told police that Bowes approached her at the park with a knife and led her into the woods.
The woman reportedly took the knife from Bowes and was able to stab him in the leg during their altercation.
Detectives arrested Bowes after a search of his residence turned up evidence in connection to the crime.
