Visitors to Manion Park can now stay fit by using 12 pieces of outdoor fitness equipment just installed in the park, thanks to a donation to Tulsa Parks by the Oklahoma Surgical Hospital Foundation.
The equipment, including a two person air-walker, a stair climber, a stationary bike, a four-person leg-press, two-person cross-country ski machine and other exercise machines, is now available at the park at 3003 E. 56th Street.
"The physicians and employees of Oklahoma Surgical Hospital, through our foundation, are proud to partner with the City of Tulsa Parks Department to bring to Manion Park the first public outdoor fitness facility of its kind to Tulsa," said Dr. James D. Cash, M.D. of the Oklahoma Surgical Hospital Foundation.
"This is just one of our many endeavors to fulfill our mission of improving the health and health based education of the citizens of Tulsa and surrounding areas. Our hope is that Tulsans will find the 'OSH Fitness Station' a valuable adjunct to their overall wellness program. "
Cash said the foundation hopes to expand the program to other parts of Tulsa in the future.
