Manning Reported To Be Next TU Coach

Several reports are saying Kansas assistant Danny Manning will be the next head basketball coach at the University of Tulsa. Manning and the Jayhawks are in New Orleans for the Final Four.{} Kansas is taking on Ohio State on Saturday.

TU is denying the reports and says, "The University of Tulsa has not reached an agreement with any candidate for the head basketball coaching position at the school. As stated when the coaching search began on March 11, TU officials will not discuss any candidates until an official announcement is made by the University."

We've been told by several sources that the search has been narrowed down to just two candidates.{} Manning and Central Oklahoma Head Coach Terry Evans.{} Both Manning and Evans have interview to replace Doug Wojcik twice.

Manning has been an assistant for Bill Self at Kansas since 2007.{} He's regarded as a tremendous recruiter and a very good of the big man.

Manning spent 15 years in the NBA and was the #1 overall pick in 1988 to the Los Angeles Clippers.He was part of the 1988 National Championship team at Kansas.{} He left KU as the all-time leading scorer and rebounder with 2,951 Points and 1,187 Rebounds.

I spoke with UCO Head Coach Terry Evans Wednesday afternoon, one of the other Tulsa candidates.

He told me Tulsa knows how much he wants to be the next Golden Hurricane head coach.{} He said he had two good interviews.
