Mary Anne's Pasta Primavera With Bacon

Want a different pasta recipe that your family is absolutely going to love? Then you need to make this savory entrée for them. It's perfect for those chilly fall evenings. Serve with some crusty bread and a side salad of greens.

1/2 - 1 pound bacon, diced

1 medium onion, chopped

1/2 - 1 small head cabbage, shredded

Or 1 package of Cole Slaw Cabbage

1 package each of 4 different kinds of mushrooms, sliced

Portobello, Shitake, Button, Oyster, etc.

1 pound cherry tomatoes cut in half

3 - 4 garlic cloves minced

Fresh basil, shredded

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 pound pasta, your choice

-Cook pasta according to package directions. Saute' bacon, onions, garlic, and mushrooms until garlic and onions are translucent. Do NOT burn garlic. Add cabbage and saute' until cooked. Add cherry tomatoes and continue sautéing.

-Add fresh basil, salt and pepper. Serve over pasta. Grate Pecorino Romano or Parmigiano Reggiano cheese on top. Enjoy.

Note: You can use any kind of mushrooms you like, or all of one kind if you want to do that.

Note: Sometimes I also add a large tomato or two that I have diced instead of the cherry tomatoes.
