What do you say about Taleya Mayberry? She "IS" Tulsa Basketball. And she's been apart of this community since birth. She won't go down as the most decorated TU women's basketball player ever, but her impact on this team and this program will live on for years to come."I don't think we'd be here talking about all we're talking about without her." Tulsa Head Coach Matilda Mossman said."I don't know where I'd be without her." added Tulsa senior forward Tiffani Couisnard."She's really the rock to our team. The glue to our team." Tulsa freshman point guard Kelsee Grovey said.Taleya came to Tulsa having won back-to-back state championships at Booker T. Washington High School. But she didn't find that same success at TU. Instead everything was a grind, but she continued to work to make herself and her team better."She's been the face of our program for four-years. I think she paid a supreme sacrifice to stay here in the first place because she came into a program that had losing season after losing season." said Mossman, "She could have gone to a multitude of places, but she choose to come here and to me that means a lot."Taleya means a lot to her teammates and that goes beyond her leadership in the gym."She's a great role model for everything that she does off the court and in the classroom." Grovey said, "She talks to me so much. She's a great point guard. All I have to do is watch her and if I mess up in practice she'll come over and tell me and help me." Taleya says she wants to be remembered as someone who left the program better than she found it. And she hopes the passion she plays with will continue at tulsa after her career is over."What she thrives on is making sure everyone around her is up to par." said Couisnard, "And ready to play the game the way she knows how to play the best. Ready to compete the way she knows how and she does that so effortlessly with us. I'm so happy I got to play with Taleya Mayberry."
