Tulsa County officials announced a special meeting will take place at the end of this month regarding a possible jail expansion and improving the juvenile detention center.
The special board meeting of the Tulsa County Board of Commissioners was scheduled Jan. 29. on whether to add proposals to ease overcrowding at the jail and the detention center.
Commissioner Ron Peters told KTUL that during the meeting the board will vote to either add or not add the proposals to a ballot for Tulsa residents to decide.
"Putting money into a street makes it better for you to drive on, that's a fairly cut and dry calculation to make. The county has a little bit more difficult of an explanation to make to folks as far as explaining how improving a juvenile justice facility provides for better juvenile justice," G.T. Bynum told KTUL earlier this month.
Officials held the final meeting Thursday evevning over at the Owasso Community Center to discuss the proposed needs.
