Memorial Tree For Former Beatle Cut Down After Ironic Death

A memorial tree dedicated to the beloved guitarist of The Beatles has died after an attack by beetles.

The George Harrison Memorial Tree at Griffith Park in Los Angeles had to be cut down last month after an infestation of bark beetles.

It's one of several trees in the park to succumb to the insects.

The Japanese Black Pine tree was planted in 2003, 2 years after Harrison died of cancer.

City officials hope to plant a new tree in November.
