Men Accused of Removing AC Units from Marble City School
Two men are behind bars Tuesday for reportedly stealing air conditioning units from a Sequoyah County school.
Deputies with the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office arrested Dylan Compton and Robert Ford. Both are accused of removing at least five AC units from a school in Marble City.
Witnesses told officers that the men were spotted in a pickup truck around 1:30 a.m. near the school. When deputies arrived on scene the truck reportedly left the area at a high rate of speed.
Deputies were able to catch up to Compton and Ford moments later. During the traffic stop officers noticed oil and freon leaking from the pickup truck's bed.
Four units were found on the truck. Back at the school officers found that five units had been removed but one was left behind due to not having enough room in the vehicle.
An electric keyboard was discovered in the truck with the men. Officials stated Compton and Ford had stolen it from a church in Adair County.
Both men are being questions for a few other burglaries in Cherokee County. Details were not available about those.
Schools officials are now working to repair and replace the AC units.
