Men Are Disappearing From The Workforce

Men are disappearing from the workforce. It's a trend that's been going on fore more than half a century.

The percentage of men either working or actively applying for jobs has dropped from nearly 98% in the 1950's to around 88% last year.

That's a record low since World War Two.

Labor analysts say several factors are to blame for the decline.

The job market's shift away from blue-collar work left many men without college degrees behind.

Also, more men are spending time in prison and are struggling to get a job once they return to society.

Finally, the recent recession led many men to apply for disability benefits.
