Men Identified After Submerged Vehicle Recovered at Grand Lake

The recovery of two people and a submerged vehicle continued early Saturday morning.On Thursday night, a GMC Yukon carrying three men in their early to mid twenties missed a curve and drove over an 80 foot embankment into Grand Lake, killing all three.Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Grove Fire Department and the Grand River Dam Authority were all involved in the recovery process.The body of 24-year-old Michael McKinney was recovered Friday evening, but the recovery effort for the other two passengers and vehicle were suspended till this morning.The bodies of 22-year-old Kyle Collins and 23-year-old Jake Olsen, both of Grove, were extricated from the vehicle this afternoon. Crews used a barge and divers to bring the SUV to the surface, thus allowing firefighters to extricate Collins and Olsen. The accident has raised questions on the safety of the road at that location. Troopers were not informed of the accident until Friday morning. According to the OHP report, seat belts were not in use by anyone in the vehicle. Officials are still investigating the cause of the accident.
