More Cops, More Stops Over Thanksgiving Weekend

The Tulsa Police Department is teaming with law enforcement agencies across the state to crack down on traffic safety violations.

They will be out in force through November 25th including Thanksgiving and Black Friday.

Officers want to remind all drivers and passengers to never drink and drive, always buckle up, obey the speed limit, and eliminate all distractions in the vehicle while driving.

Black Friday shoppers also need to be aware that blocking any intersection is a citable offense.

Motorcycle and Traffic units will be monitoring the major shopping centers to make sure motorists don't create traffic jams.

Nearly 500 people were killed in Oklahoma highway crashes in 2010.

60% were not wearing their seatbelts.

33% of car crash fatalities involved an alcohol-impaired driver.

28% were speeding.
