California may still be king when it comes to earthquakes, but tornadoes?
This year Oklahoma hasn't recorded one tornado, but California has already seen 11. That is extremely unusual for sunny California, since on average they only see about four per year.
Oklahoma on the other averages 55 a year.
Even though California has reported more earthquakes up to this point, the number of quakes that have occurred this year alone in Oklahoma is way above average.
From 1977 to 2001, Oklahoma averaged between 20-200 quakes a year. So far this year, more than 1,300 quakes have been reported in the Sooner State.
