Murder Trial For Kayla Ferrante's Death Begins

The murder trial in the Kayla Ferrante murder case will begin Monday afternoon.

Edwin Jermaine Daniels is charged with first degree murder and shooting with intent to kill. He is accused of shooting into a car and killing 17-year-old Ferrante back in May of 2012.

Court records indicate that Daniels jury trial began Monday at the Tulsa County courthouse. Jury selection has been underway in the case.

Previous reports from KTUL state that Daniels told police he thought other people were inside the car when he shot through the back of it, fatally wounding Ferrante. The shooting took place near 15th and 129th East Avenue.

Police caught up to him after a string of home invasion armed robberies that summer.

Ferrante had graduated a year early from Memorial High School the night before her death. Her life calling was to work with children with disabilities.
