Navarro's Acrobatic Play Ends Ninth Inning Rally
The Tulsa Drillers' offense stalls against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, resulting in a 3-1 loss Tuesday evening at OneOK Field.
With the bases loaded and only 1 out in the bottom of the ninth, Angelys Nina's line drive was caught on a diving effort by Rey Navarro, then flicked the ball out of his glove to the nearby shortstop for the final out.
It wasn't the only opportunity for the Drillers to tie the game.
Tulsa trailed 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning with the tying run on first base, Kent Mathes hit a fly ball deep to center field but Wil Myers made a routine catch at the warning track.
All 3 of Northwest Arkansas' runs came on solo home runs; two of which came in the second inning and the other in the third.
Edwar Cabrera was responsible for all 3 but still posted a quality start by throwing 7 complete innings while striking out 6.
With the loss, the Naturals pull to within 3 games of first place Tulsa in the Texas League's North Division.
Tomorrow's game is scheduled to begin at 11:05 a.m.
