New Congressman Kicks Off Listening Tour
The fiscal cliff is one of the topics facing newly elected Congressman, Markwayne Mullin.
He kicked off his whirlwind Listening Tour Monday.
He plans to visit all 26 counties in Oklahoma's second district this week.
The Congressman says he wants to know what people want from him as he heads off to Washington, D.C.
That includes his plans to take on the President's healthcare plan and the fast-approaching fiscal cliff.
We asked him about the fiscal cliff when we caught up with him while he spoke to a group in Claremore Monday night.
"If we don't act, we don't do something, every American is truly going to be effected by this," says Rep. Mullin. "I would hope that they come to a solution and they don't just kick the can down the road."
Rep. Mullin told us if the fiscal cliff issue isn't resolved correctly, he would rather see a decision delayed.
He's also facing questions on schools, military cuts, veteran benefits, and Congress' spending problems.
"He's fresh blood with a lot of good ideas," says supporter Loretta Brown. "He's tired of the government butting in on the common people."
