New Workforce Program In Downtown Tulsa

Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett took part Wednesday in the grand opening of the Transportation Connections WorkAdvance Program. It is a new workforce program that will prepare low-income individuals to be successful in launching their careers in the transportation, aviation and aerospace industries.

The Transportation Connections WorkAdvance Center is located at 907 S. Detroit Avenue. It's being opened using the support of the federal Social Innovation Fund, a public-private initiative announced by the White House in 2009 and administered by the Corporation for National and Community Service. This grant is designed to address major social issues by growing high-impact organizations delivering proven solutions.

Through high-quality career coaching and full scholarships to local training providers, Transportation Connections WorkAdvance strives to give Tulsa residents an opportunity to obtain good jobs with career opportunities in the transportation industry. Additionally, this initiative helps companies in Tulsa's transportation industry become more competitive by increasing the number of skilled workers in the sector.
