OHP Safety Efforts to Increase for Memorial Day Weekend
This Memorial Day weekend, Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers will be making an increased effort to keep state roadways safe.
The OHP reported seven deaths in five fatal wrecks on Oklahoma roadways during Memorial Day weekend 2013.
The Memorial Day enforcement coincides with "Click it or Ticket" and "Operation C.A.R.E." Those two efforts focus on seat belt usage and speed and driving under the influence.
May is also Motorcycle Safety Month, so Memorial Day drivers are asked to be cautious of motorcyclists on the roads.
"The Memorial Day Holiday weekend should be a special time for families to enjoy," OHP patrol chief Rick Adams said. "The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is dedicated to insuring every motorist
reaches their destination safely. Troopers will be working to enforce state traffic laws as well as lend assistance where needed."
Increased OHP efforts on state lakes is also expected.
