OHP to Amp Up Patrols July 4th Weekend

Oklahoma State Troopers will be putting forth an extra effort to keep roadways and waterways safe for the upcoming Independence Day weekend.

OHP reports four motor vehicle deaths last year during the July 4th holiday period along with two drownings.

"Our troopers will be highly visible this fourth of July weekend in an attempt to reduce collisions and dangerous behaviors both on our roads and waterways throughout the state," said Colonel Ricky Adams, Chief of Patrol with OHP.

"Troopers will conduct DUI special emphasis and saturation patrols while looking for violations of law that contribute to collisions every day," said Adams.

OHP will be strictly enforcing the following violations:

      -speeding

      -inattentive driving

      -failing to wear seat belts

-failing to properly restrain children in child safety seats

-failing to wear personal flotation devices

-DUI while operating a vehicle or boating vessel

Dangerous drivers or boaters can be reported by calling *55.
