Oklahoma Detectives Investigating Assault Turned Homicide in Panhandle

Oklahoma detectives are investigating after a 70-year-old man died from his injuries sustained inside his business.

Officers with the Tyrone Police Department were notified June 30 that James Vitkowski was found on the flood of his auto and salvage business. This happened in the town of Tyrone located in the Oklahoma panhandle.

Paramedics transported Vitkowski to a Kansas hospital. He died from from the blunt force trauma he received to his head.

Agents with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation are now working to determine a motive behind the assault turned homicide. No suspect information has been provided at this time.
