Oklahoma Highway Patrol DUI Crackdown Results in Arrests

Tulsa area troopers took part in a DUI crackdown Saturday, April 27.

The special DUI saturation patrol began at 7 p.m. and lasted till 3 a.m. Troopers targeted I-244, I-44, U.S. Highway 169, U.S. Highway 75 and the downtown IDL.

"We designed this crackdown to coincide with prom season and other activities of young drivers. Our goal is to be extremely visible, target, DUI offenders and prevent highway tragedies which too often occur this time of year," stated Troop B Tulsa OHP Captain Jerry Reagan.

The crackdown resulted in:

  • 10 DUI arrests
  • 5 drug arrests
  • 3 stolen vehicles recovered
  • 1 wanted person arrested
  • 22 driver license violations
  • 1 expired tag
  • 8 insurance violations
  • 50 speed violations
  • 35 defective vehicles
  • 69 other violations
"We consider this mission successful because there were no fatality crash victims during the time of the special emphasis. We did respond to one single-vehicle injury collision on the IDL. This crash occurred at 2:59 AM this morning and from last update, all three occupants of the vehicle are in stable condition", stated Captain George Brown, spokesperson for OHP
