A new fire station in Oktaha will have its grand opening this Saturday.
OFD is a volunteer fire department. Funds for the new station came from a Muskogee County sales tax passed 5 years ago.
The tax was divided equally among 18 fire stations and that small amount was enough for the Oktaha Fire Department to build the new building.
OFD has also been upgrading and updating equipment, along with the rest of the fire stations in Muskogee County.
The new station is 99% done according to the Oktaha Fire Chief. The building costs $551,000 and will be on a 20-year loan.
