One Killed in Deadly Mayes Co. Wreck

One person is dead following a single-vehicle wreck in Mayes County Thursday evening.

It happened on a country road north of Mazie around 6 p.m. Thursday.

According to OHP, the vehicle was heading east when, for some reason, it went off the road to the right, overcorrected, then went off the road to the left and started rolling for an undetermined number of times.

Three people were inside, all thrown more than a hundred feet from the vehicle. None were wearing seatbelts, troopers said.

Passenger Patricia Corbett, 49, of Choteau was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two others, a 27-year-old man and 18-year-old woman, both from Elk City, were taken to a Tulsa hospital and admitted in good condition.

Troopers are continuing to investigate, and have not determined who in the vehicle was driving.
