ORU Baseball Wins 10-Inning Affair At UALR
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- After surrendering 2 runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the game at 4, ORU freshman outfielder Jose Trevino responds with a 2-run home run in the tenth; ultimately giving Oral Roberts a 6-5 win over UA-Little Rock.
In the ninth inning, ORU's Matt Rush failed to record the final out. Instead, he surrendered a 2 RBI double to tie the game at 4.
Freshman pitcher Phillip Wilson was brought in and able to get the Golden Eagles out of the inning.
Following Rein's 2-run shot in the top of the tenth, Wilson stayed in for the bottom half.
While the freshman from Owasso gave up a solo home run, Wilson was still able to close out the game; earning his first win as a Golden Eagle.
All of ORU's runs were scored on 2-run home runs. In addition to Trevino, Brandon King and Jared Schlehuber "went yard" for the Golden Eagles.
With the win, Oral Roberts improves to 13-14 overall and begin conference play this weekend at home against Oakland.
The first of three games begins Friday evening at 6:30.
