ORU Beats Western Illinois, 84-69
A sluggish start was no obstacle for Oral Roberts University on Saturday afternoon as the Golden Eagles topped Western Illinois University, 84-69, at the Mabee Center. Kevi Luper led the Golden Eagles with 31 points, recovering from a slow start to connect on 12-of-23 shooting.
She also contributed six rebounds, five assists and four steals. The junior passed Krista Ragan for second place on ORU's all-time scoring list and is now 32 points behind Vivian Herron for ORU's career scoring record of 2,192 points.
The Adair native wasn't alone in ORU's scoring attack. Bernadett Balla added 16 points, while Dominique Allen and Amber Carver each had 10 points. Carver added 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the season.
The Golden Eagles will play their final home game of the season on Monday night, when they host IUPUI. Seniors Allen, Georgia Jones and Jordan Pyle will be honored prior to the game, which tips at 7:05 PM CT.
