Logan Domenico teed off for his first home run of his career on Saturday afternoon to help lift Oral Roberts over No. 23 Central Arkansas for the second straight game, 3-2.
Already up 1-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth, the Golden Eagles picked up the big hit from Domenico. Graham McIntyre led the inning off by reaching second after a throwing error by the UCA short stop.
Domenico followed, sending the first pitch of the at bat over the right field wall into the Golden Eagle bullpen for his ninth and tenth runs batted in. The sophomore outfielder finished the game with two hits and has nine hits in the past four games.
The Golden Eagles got on the board in the second inning when Matt Brandy singled in Jose Trevino who was standing on second following a leadoff double.
Brandy and Chris Williams each joined Domenico with multi-hit games, as they finished with a pair of singles. ORU finished with 12 hits total as each starter had at least a single, including Nate Goro, Kevin Cho, Austen Colt and McIntyre.
Drew Bowen earned his first victory on the mound as he struck out six batters, allowed six hits and one run in six innings pitched.
The one run allowed came in the sixth inning as Garrett Brown picked up a one-out double to center, scoring quickly as the next batter, Michael Marietta, singled to score the run.
UCA's second run of the afternoon came in the top of the seventh. Forrestt Allday drew a walk to start the inning, advancing to second when a pickoff attempted went into right field. Two batters later, Jonathan Davis singled to left to score Allday.
Much like ORU, the Bears saw their one through eight spots in the lineup record hits.
Nathan Garza entered the game in the eighth, after an inning from Alec Smith, to pick up the two-inning save. Garza struck out two batters, including the final out of the afternoon.
The Golden Eagles (7-15, 2-0) go for the series sweep over Central Arkansas (18-5, 0-2) on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m., weather permitting.
