A 50-year-old woman was discovered dead inside her Chouteau home early Monday morning.
Agents with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation were called on scene Monday after the woman, identified as Verna Sartem, was found in an area of her residence located at 1418 Jones in Chouteau.
Officials at the scene told KTUL that the woman was found unresponsive by a Mayes County deputy. He reportedly noticed something "wasn't right" and called in OSBI.
Initial reports state that the woman received blunt force trauma to an area of her body. No other details were given.
Deputies are questioning Jeremy Sappington, identified as living with Sartem at the time, as a possible person of interest. He was located driving her pickup truck.
At this time investigators are not labeling this investigation a homicide. But are not ruling out foul play.
