OSU Clinches First Big 12 Series Win of the Season

Oklahoma State routed Kansas, 11-1, Saturday at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium to give the Cowboys their first Big 12 Conference series win of the season.{}Jared Womack led the Cowboys' offense with four RBIs as every player in the OSU lineup collected a hit, and Kyle Ottoson picked up the win with another strong outing on the mound as the Pokes improved to 16-14 overall and 3-5 in conference play.{}OSU scored the game's first run in the third inning with a two-out rally as Mark Ginther's RBI double gave the Cowboys a 1-0 advantage.{}The game remained close until the sixth when the Cowboys rallied for four runs on three hits and a pair of KU errors.{}After two errors and a fielder's choice loaded the bases with no one out, Wes Jones delivered a two-RBI double to left field to put OSU up 3-0. Up next, Zach Fish collected an RBI on a fielder's choice before an RBI single by Womack gave the Cowboys a five-run lead.{}Kansas (12-18, 2-6) tallied their only run in the seventh on a two-out single by Kevin Kuntz, but the Cowboys put the game away in their next at bat.{}In the bottom of the seventh, OSU sent 10 batters to the plate and erupted for six runs on four hits. Hunter Bailey and Jarrett Higgins collected RBIs in the inning, and the big blow came from Womack, who doubled down the left field line to bring home three runs and provide the final 11-1 margin.{}The win was the first in Big 12 play for Ottoson, a southpaw who improved to 2-4 on the year. The senior worked seven innings, marking the fourth-straight game he has lasted into the seventh, and allowed just one run on eight hits while striking out six.{}OSU, which is now 14-3 at home this season, will look for the series sweep Sunday. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
