Owasso Vintage Market Bringing Small Businesses to Area
A new vintage market has opened in Owasso, and it's a place you can find unique gifts for any occasion. But the idea behind it is intended to create more small businesses. Inside The Flying Pig Vintage Market, thirteen vendors are trying to make their dreams of owning a small business come true.
"It gives us an outlet for our creativity. I have three sisters and we are all creative in different ways and this is an opportunity for us to share our creativity with other people," says Kim McGee, Okie Chic.
Okie Chic has several booths in other places. McGee says being apart of these type of markets takes the major pressure off owning your own business because the market owner will take care of paying the electric bill, advertising, and leg work.
Malinda Palmer is the woman in charge and says she got started in a small market just like this.
"I think almost all of us have gotten in on a amateur level at some point and then taken it where you want to. You can do as little or as much as you want to do," says The Flying Pig Vintage Market Owner, Malinda Palmer.
Palmer was able to get the funding assistance she needed. She says customer service is the key and having products that people want to see.
"You can't be stale. I think that you always have to be on top and changing and following the trends," says Palmer.
The Flying Pig is open seven days a week. They are located at 202 East 1st Street in Owasso. You can contact them at 918-724-4090.
