A 79-year-old man from Park Hill died this morning at Saint Francis hospital after he passed out at the wheel of a vehicle Thursday morning in Cherokee County.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports that the victim, identified as Kenneth Stewart, suffered from an unknown medical condition that caused him to pass out at the wheel. After he passed out, the vehicle ran off the road, through a field and three fences and struck a utility pole.
The collision took places four miles west of Tahlequah. Stewart was transported from the scene to Saint Francis with critical injuries to his head, arms and trunk.
He was pronounced dead a little after 6:30 a.m. today.?
