Permit Delays Construction On Margaritaville At River Spirit Casino

A major expansion to River Spirit Casino could take longer than expected.

Margaritaville was set to open in 2015.

Construction has already begun.

But a permit still needs approval with the Army Corps of Engineers.

It requires 30 days of public feedback, and that means a big delay on the project.

It could be mid-2016 before the new place is open.

Pat Croft, CEO of Creek Nation Casinos, says "We're expecting to get that permit this Fall. And be under construction by October. And we're looking about 18 to 24 months to finish everything up. Which will put the project into 2016, with the tower in the fall of 2016."

Meanwhile, there's been another major announcement for River Spirit.

Mickey Mantle's Steakhouse is coming in phase two of the expansion.

The upscale restaurant is named after the Oklahoma native.

It will be the first in Tulsa and the second one in the state.

The other one is in Bricktown in Oklahoma City.

Construction should begin later this year.
