Federal investigators have arrived in Wagoner County after a plane crash sent a man to a Tulsa hospital Wednesday evening.
Preliminary information states that the small aircraft went down around 8:30 p.m. at Hefner-Easley Airport east of Wagoner. The airport is located southeast of Tulsa.
Local authorities told KTUL that the 54-year-old pilot was practicing takeoffs and landings when crashed in some grass. Witnesses stated they heard a "pop or a stall sound" and then the aircraft went down.
Paramedics transported the pilot to a Tulsa hospital. He was admitted with head, neck and back injuries.
"Whenever he left, he was conscious and alert. And considering the circumstances, he was doing okay," said Lt. Harding.
Federal investigators will begin looking into the cause of the plane crash this week. No other information was provided at this time.
