Tulsa Police are enforcing construction zone speed limits for the month of June, according to a press release.
The Tulsa Police Department Mingo Valley Traffic Unit and the Motorcycle Unit will focus on posted speed violations and other hazardous moving violations in the construction zones in the Mingo Valley Division area, which is east of Sheridan Rd., south of I-244.
They will be randomly monitoring the construction zones in this area through the end of the month in an effort to increase the safety of construction zone workers and reduce traffic collisions in these areas.
A citation issued for speeding in a construction zone ranges from $150 to up to $500 and/or 10 days in jail. There will be no warnings issued.
Drivers are reminded to remain alert, to not use electronic communication devices and to pay special attention to all construction zone warning signs.
Violation of construction zone warning signs and speed limits is a leading cause of injury collisions in construction zones.
The Mingo Valley Division Traffic Unit's goal is to reduce the frequency and severity of collisions occurring in construction zones.
