Tulsa Police Create Task Force After Sixth Woman Sexually Assaulted

Police are investigating Friday after a woman reported she had been sexually assaulted by an individual at her residence.

Investigators with the Tulsa Police Department confirmed that Friday's attack is connected to a recent series of sexual assaults in the Tulsa area. Six women in total have been attacked by the same individual since May.

Officers were notified by a neighbor early Friday morning who stated a woman in her 70s had been attacked while she was sleeping. This was at an apartment complex near 45th and Peoria.

Police stated she was so shaken up, she has not been able to give a good description of the suspect and there is no word on how he got into the apartment. Another sexual assault happened two weeks ago at the same apartment complex.

"It appears he has gotten a lot more violent than he was in previous attacks. It does appear that this individual is escalating his attacks," TPD's Leland Ashley said in a previous report.

TPD announced Friday afternoon that a task force has been created to help locate and arrest the suspect. Investigators, field officers and specialty units are canvassing the area where the attacks have happened and developing leads.

KTUL has reported that previous attacks have occurred at 14th and Elwood, 42nd and Detroit, 41st and Peoria and near 71st and Yale. Surveillance footage from nearby businesses is being used in the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
