County Leaders Schedule Public Hearings for Planned Macy's Plant
Two public hearings were scheduled Monday evening for a proposed Tax Incentive Finance District that would accommodate a new Macy's distribution center.
Tulsa County leaders met during a regularly scheduled meeting and voted approve the public hearings set for Jan. 21 and Feb. 3. that were decided on by members of INCOG.
According to a report from the Owasso Reporter, the hearings provide the public a chance to express their views on the proposed district involving the new Macy's facility to be constructed in Owasso.
Minutes from Monday's meeting state that the first meeting will be held for general information and question purposes. The second one will "give interested persons" opportunity to express their views on the proposed district.
Governor Mary Fallin, Mayor Dewey Bartlett were among those present when new of the planned distribution center was announced. Construction of the 1.3 million-square-foot building is scheduled to begin this spring and operations are expected to start in April 2015.
"Tulsa County is a thriving metropolitan community and an excellent choice to locate or expand a business," Governor Fallin said. "This announcement is another sign that Oklahoma is a destination-state for those seeking a location with strong economic growth and a skilled, dedicated workforce."
