Remembering Shelby - Bartlesville Fire Victim
Two days after fire engulfed the house and took five lives with it, casting a shadow of unbearable darkness, brightly colored signs have cropped up out front in remembrance.
"I knew all of them," said long time friend Jaden.
She and Mikala were two of several visitors today paying their respects. The victim they were closest to? Shelby.
"Her heart is made of gold, like she is as sweet as they come, she's the kind of person like she'd give you the shirt off her back. And it's no exaggeration, she would give you the shirt off her back," they said.
Just 21, she had a young son who's not yet 2 years-old.
"That's why it's so heartbreaking to see somebody so great go, so young. She had her whole life ahead of her," said Mikala.
As for the incident, the cause of the fire is still being investigated, as authorities try to determine what happened.
"We're just trying to talk to as many people as we can, neighbors and family members, everybody we can contact," said David Hackler of the Bartlesville police department.
Back at the house, Mikala recalls the last time she saw Shelby, just a few days ago at the store.
"And she tapped on me, I turned around, she was just smiling real big. She was like you should come by and see me. I was like well I can't tonight, but I'll come see you tomorrow. And then I woke up and this is what I woke up to," she said.
