      Report: Driver Had 10 Beers, Tequila Shot Before Deadly Grand Lake Boat Crash

      The driver of a boat that crashed into a the back of a houseboat on Grand Lake told investigators he had 10 beers and a tequila shot before the deadly collision, according to a preliminary crash report.

      John Deselms, of Tulsa, was cited for operation of a vessel under the influence after the May 14 crash.

      Deselms told investigators he had consumed about 10 beers, a shot of tequila and took an antidepressant that had not be prescribed to him that afternoon, according to the report.

      The report indicates that alcohol use, excessive speed and operator inattention led to the crash that killed Rachel Nicole Swetnam and William Lewis Varner III.

      Swetnam was from Grove, Oklahoma while Varner lived in Texarkana, Arkansas. Swetnam was a graduate of Cascia Hall.
