Sand Springs Boy Subject of Amber Alert Back in Oklahoma

The young Sand Springs boy who was reportedly kidnapped by his father and taken to Texas is back in Oklahoma, according to a spokesperson for the Dept. of Human Services.

Meanwhile, Texas authorities are holding 38-year-old Robert Connor III without bond on suspicion of killing his mother and abducting his 6-year-old son in Sand Springs on Wednesday.

Lewisville city jail records show Connor was taken into custody just hours after he surrendered at a north Texas motel early Wednesday.

His unharmed son, Decklan Connor was with him and was taken into protective custody.

DHS officials said Thursday they could not comment on whether the child was in protective custody or with family in Oklahoma due to privacy laws.

Capt. Jay Powell say police in the Dallas-area city will coordinate with Oklahoma authorities on the suspect's return.

An Amber Alert was issued for the boy Tuesday night by the Osage County Sheriff's Office after Deborah Connor was fatally shot at a home near Sand Springs. Sheriff Ty Koch stated Connor and his mother apparently argued over money and her grandson was staying with her.

Around 3 a.m. Wednesday, Texas officials stated he was located at the hotel and began making phone calls to him a couple hours later. And just before 8 a.m. authorities were able to take him into custody with the assistance of the SWAT team.

Records indicate that Robert Connor now faces first degree murder and child endangerment charges. He will be extradited to Oklahoma.
