Sapulpa Man Arrested After Standoff with Police

Sapulpa Police take a suspect into custody after a nearly hour and a half long standoff, Sunday Evening.

A Sapulpa man is in custody after a nearly hour and a half long standoff with several suburban law-enforcement agencies, Sunday Evening.

Officers say they were called out to a duplex in the 200 block of West Lee Street for some sort of disturbance with a group of kids around 5:30pm.

That's when someone barricaded themselves inside for about an hour and a half.

Special Operations Officers from Sapulpa, Bixby and Sand Springs all responded to try to persuade the man out. They were able to throw a cell phone inside to communicate with the man. The suspect surrendered to police shortly thereafter.

Police say they heard rumors he had a weapon, but no weapon was found.

Police are not releasing the suspect's identity at this time, however they did confirm he had a number of outstanding warrants for his arrest. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
