The search is over for a man suspected of taking a woman from an Owasso store Monday evening.

Michael Dale Nelson, 28, was arrested after he turned himself in just after 6 pm to the Owasso Police Department, according to the arrest report.

Channel 8 previously reported that the incident occurred Monday night at the PetSmart on 121st East Avenue.

Owasso officers were told by witnesses that they'd seen a man come into the store and force a woman worker into a car outside.

Around 8:00 o'clock that night, Owasso Police got word that the suspect's car had crashed on Highway 11 near Highway 20 close to Avant.

According to the arrest report, the female victim was then transported to a local hospital for injuries received in the crash.

The victim told officers that her and Nelson have been in a cohabiting relationship off and on for five years and that they have one child together.

At the Owasso Police Department, officers told Nelson that the victim had issued a protective order against him and that an Osage County Deputy was on the way to serve him.

During his booking at the police department, Nelson requested medical treatment for the injuries he sustained as a result of the collision Monday evening.

State court records show Nelson has prior convictions that include drug possession, drug manufacture and arson.

Upon his release from a local hospital, Nelson was transported to the Tulsa County Jail on charges of domestic assault and battery, kidnapping and planning or threatening a violent act.
