Search Continues for Remains of Missing NSU Student
Authorities are searching through a rural area of Cherokee County in hopes of locating remains for a man that went missing in 2004.
Search teams have been canvassing the area near Keys using ground penetrating radar to search for Stephen Adam's body.
Previous reports from KTUL state that Adam's was last seen near Northeastern State University where he had just taken a final. This was in December 2004.
"He made a phone call to his girlfriend when he left the NSU campus and told her that he was giving a man a ride to Keys," said OSBI Special Agent Vicky Lyons.
And it's that info that has lead detectives to focus their search in the town south of Tahlequah.
At the scene of the search officials told KTUL that an area of interest has been pinpointed. But that it will take days before it can be further investigated.
It is possible that a search warrant will have to be completed before they begin excavating the area that has been cornered off.
A $5,000 reward is being offered in the case. If you have any information call the OSBI at 1-800-522-8017.
