Search is On for Convicted Murderer Who Escaped From Adair. Co Jail

Authorities in Adair County are searching for an "extremely dangerous" inmate who escaped from the county jail along with another inmate late Sunday evening.

According to Adair Co. Sheriff David Hardin, 25-year-old Carlos Locust and Michael Pack overpowered a jailer around 10:30 p.m. Sunday and escaped.

The jailer suffered minor injuries. The jail is located at 600 Paul Mead Rd. in Stilwell.

Pack was picked up about four hours later and taken back into custody. He was in jail on a charge of shooting at a police officer.

Locust is still at large.

He was sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder in June and awaiting transfer. Hardin said he and two other men stopped a victim on a county road and beat him to death.

Adair Co. Sheriff's deputies, Oklahoma Highway Patrol and U.S. Marshals are all searching for him, concentrating in Adair Co. for now, Hardin said.

Locust is described as an Indian male, brown eyes, shaved head, standing 6'2" tall and 220 lbs.

He is possibly armed and considered extremely dangerous, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to immediately call 911 or the Adair Co. Sheriff's Office at 918-696-2106.
