Some Stores to Remain Open 24 Hours Leading Up to Christmas

Some major retailers are planning to keep their doors open to Christmas shoppers nonstop leading up to the holiday.Kohl's and some Kmart locations began their 24 hour sprint Friday. Toys "R" Us will open at six o'clock tomorrow morning and continue with 24 hour days.Those stores will remain open until Christmas Eve.Some shoppers told Channel 8 they plan to shop during the extended hours."Yes, maybe, hopefully. Maybe it won't be so busy," said Toys "R" Us shopper Kara Newman.Some others said they do not plan to take part. One woman posted on Kohl's Facebook page Friday, "Please allow your employees the chance to shop for their own loved ones and to spend the holidays with their families like everyone else does."Toys "R" Us said the point of the extended hours is convenience for shoppers. In a statement, the toy store said, "Gift-givers can shop day and night for all of the toys kids want most, including those that can only be found at Toys "R" Us."A Kmart spokesperson said no Tulsa Kmart locations will be open 24 hours. A store in Enid, however, will be.On Christmas Eve, Toys "R" Us will close at 9 p.m., Kohl's will close at 6 p.m., and Kmart will close at 10 p.m.
