A unique Green Country event is bringing out people interested in clogging.
The Clogging Champions of America hosted the Route 66 Clogging Competition Saturday.
Competitors and spectators gathered in the historic Coleman Theater in Miami.
Age groups from 4 years old to adults competed from several states and regions.
Clogging is becoming a more contemporary sport, and that's what this competition focuses on.
"We dance to pop music and incorporate a lot of jazz and hip-hop and that sort of thing," says Matt Sexton, the coordinator of Saturday's event. "It's very contemporary, very modern; that's what Clogging Champions of America is about, it's clogging for the now generation."
The city of Miami and the Miami Convention and Visitor's Bureau sponsored the championship.
Winners will qualify to go on to Knoxville, TN, in January.
