Spurs Eliminate Thunder & Advance To NBA Finals
The San Antonio Spurs used a 37 point third quarter to spark their comeback to eliminate the Oklahoma City Thunder in game 6 of the Western Conference Finals 112-107 in overtime.
San Antonio played the second half without starting point guard Tony Parker who was out with a hurt foot. They trailed by seven at the break, but outscored Oklahoma City by 17 to take the lead in the second half.
Boris Diaw led the way for the Spurs with 26 points. Tim Duncan had 19, Kawhi Leonard finished with 17 and Manu Ginobili put in 15.
The Thunder got all but five points from four players. Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant had 34 and 31 points respectively. Reggie Jackson added 21 and Serge Ibaka had 16. Derek Fisher was the only other OKC player to score. The Spurs bench outscored the Thunder bench 51-5.
The Thunder finish the season with a mark of 69-32.
The Spurs advance to their second straight NBA Finals. They will have a rematch with the Miami Heat. The Heat beat the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals 4-2.
