The votes are in, Steve Kunzweiler beats opponent Fred Jordan for the Tulsa County District Attorney Position.
He is taking over for Tim Harris, who has been Tulsa County's District Attorney since 1998.
Kunzweiler says his time as an Assistant DA is what helped him connect with voters.
"I think what the voters really want to see is some experience in the office. I brought that. It's very helpful to have that kind of experience when you're dealing with victims, especially dealing with law enforcement, so I think people realized that continuity is very important in areas of public safety," he said.
Kunzweiler has been the Chief of Criminal Prosecution for Tulsa County DA Tim Harris and has 24 years of experience as a criminal prosecutor.
Harris' term will expire on January 3rd, 2015.
