With Oklahoma being one of the most obese state's in the country, third grade students at Foyil Elementary School are being educated on the benefits of healthy eating.
Zoie McKellips, Shelby Scott and Magan Swinney were winners of the school-wide poster contest entitled "Making Healthy Food Choices," which was conducted in March by the Rogers County Health Department because it's National Nutrition Month.
The nutritional program runs through May and consists of nutrition education for the students, vegetable taste-testing and healthy recipes.
In 2014, 31% of adults in Rogers county were reported as obese.
The contest was conducted for young people in the hope that these young people establish healthy eating habits at a young age.
