Around 45 students from Monroe Demonstration School in Tulsa safely escaped a bus fire April 18, but not without losses.
Many students lost personal belongings and school supplies such as backpacks.
Tuesday, Restore Hope Ministries church donated pencils, binders, notebooks and folders to students at the school in lieu of the recent incident.
Alex Palmer, a 7th grade student at the school, said the incident was "jaw-dropping."
"It made me realize how valuable life is. I'm glad everybody made it out safely," Palmer said.
April 18 also happened to be Palmer's birthday.
"I'll never forget that birthday," Palmer said. "My first day as a teenager."
